The ambulance "La Caridad" had attended to wounded liberal soldiers and in gratitude Generals Serrano and Concha made the embarcación "Somorrostro" available to transfer the sick and the wounded from Santurce to Socoa. "When they disembarked, they were taken [...], via Vera, to Elizondo, [...] where all the preparations were made to greet them"
